From beginner to advanced, FRCC offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for students at every level. Learn the English you need to enter college programs, advance your career and feel comfortable in everyday life.

In this program, you will:

  • Improve pronunciation and listening through interactive conversations
  • Build academic and workplace vocabulary
  • Strengthen reading and writing for all contexts
  • Learn how to communicate effectively in class, meetings and professional settings
  • Create community in supportive classes with experienced instructors

High-Beginner ESL

Improve your English skills by practicing speaking, reading, writing and listening. Learn English for real-life situations to feel more confident in daily life. 

Skills you will practice: 

  • Use everyday vocabulary to navigate daily life task
  • Increase confidence to speak and communicate with others
  • Write clear messages, notes and brief responses
  • Understand spoken English in peer and group interactions

High-Beginner ESL

Intermediate ESL

Strengthen your English speaking, reading, writing and listening skills through regular practice and classroom activities. This course helps you communicate more independently in academic and professional situations. 

Skills You’ll Gain: 

  • Improve conversational skills and strategies
  • Communicate more independently via spoken and written English
  • Write organized paragraphs for academic and daily life tasks
  • Increase listening skills and comprehension

Intermediate ESL

Strategic English: Grammar & Communication

This course helps students review important grammar for everyday English. Students practice present, past and future tenses in day-to-day situations. The goal is to help students feel more confident speaking in and outside of class. This class meets on Zoom, meeting link will be sent prior to class via email. 

Skills You Will Practice: 

  • Strengthen use of present, past, and future tenses
  • Review and apply grammar in realistic and familiar tasks
  • Build confidence through repetition and practice
  • Speak more fluidly in everyday situations
